Farmer's markets, both seasonal and year-round, spring up weekly in nearly every neighbourhood across the city, giving both residents and visitors a chance to buy some fresh produce and other goods while connecting with local farmers and artisans. 

So grab a reusable bag, pick a market and go grab some fresh fruits, vegetables, cheeses, breads, meats, soaps and more!

Here's a guide to farmer's markets across the city, according to area:

DOWNTOWN


St. Lawrence Market Farmers’ Market

Year-round

Days: Saturdays

Time: 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Location: St. Lawrence Market, 93 Front St. E., south of the south market in the big white tent

Just south of the main brick-and-mortar market, the St. Lawrence Market Farmers' Market is brimming with fresh produce from local farmers each Saturday. The market is inside the large tent between Market and Lower Jarvis streets. If you get there close to closing time, you can look for end-of-day offers from some vendors.

John Street Farmers’ Market

June to October

Days: Wednesdays

Time: 3:30 to 7 p.m.

Location: St. George-the-Martyr Anglican Church, 197 John St.

This community market is nestled within the enclosed gardens of the St. George-the-Martyr Anglican Church. The John Street Farmers' Market has a relaxed environment with live music, a play area for children and cafe seating if you can't wait to bite into your purchases. The market is also near the AGO, so you can enjoy some Canadian art before picking up some local and fresh produce.

Indulge at David Pecaut Square

May 31 to Oct. 11

Days: Thursdays

Time: 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Location: David Pecaut Square, 55 John St.

Visitors can indulge all of their senses at this farmers' market, where there is no shortage of sights, sounds and flavours. From May 31 to Aug. 30, there will be live performances from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Nathan Phillips Square

May 30 to Oct. 23

Days: Wednesdays

Time: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Location: Nathan Phillips Square, 100 Queen St. W.

Enjoy fresh food in the heart of downtown with vendors offering cheeses, breads, honey, fruits and flowers. Ontario Farm Fresh updates its website with products currently available at the market.

SickKids Farmers' Market

May to October

Days: Tuesdays

Time: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Location: The Hospital for Sick Children, 555 University Ave.

The SickKids Farmers' Market takes place in the hospital's University Avenue driveway and features local fruits, vegetables, herbs, honey, cheeses, pies and soaps.

EAST TORONTO


Evergreen Brick Works Farmers' Market

Year-round

Days: Saturdays

Time: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. (9 a.m. to 1 p.m. during winter)

Location: Evergreen Brick Works, 550 Bayview Ave.

Evergreen hosts one of the largest farmers' markets in Toronto, offering a wide variety of local and seasonal food year-round. The market started with humble beginnings in 2007, with 25 local farmers and producers, and has grown thanks to a great response from the community. Before visiting the market, you can also enjoy Evergreen Brickworks' bike and hiking trails, and Children's Garden.

East York Farmers' Market

May to October

Days: Tuesdays

Time: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Location: East York Civic Centre, 850 Coxwell Ave.

Located in front of the Eat York Civic Centre, this farmers' market offers a wide range of fresh Ontario products. All your lunch needs are met here — freshly made smoothies and a barbecue are both on site. Fruits and vegetables, honey and preserves, smoked meats and cheeses, homemade soaps and more are available.

Leslieville Farmers' Market

May to October

Days: Sundays

Time: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Location: Jonathan Ashbridge Park, 20 Woodward Ave.

The Leslieville Farmers' Market is dedicated to bringing the highest quality of local food and produce and each of the market's vendors are vetted to ensure they meet the guidelines. Baked goods, prepared foods and specialty items are available, as well as hot food selections. There's also live music to enjoy while you have a bite to eat.

The Junction Farmers' Market

Spring to fall

Days: Saturdays

Times: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Location: Junction Train Platform, 2960 Dundas St. W.

Located in the heart of The Junction in the Junction Train Platform, this farmers' market provides local, sustainably produced fresh foods and has the feel of a small, friendly village. There are also pop-up vendor specials, in addition to local farmers, food producers and wineries.

Trinity Bellwoods Farmers Market

May to October

Days: Tuesdays

Times: 3 to 7 p.m.

Location: Trinity Bellwoods Park, 790 Queen St. W.

Every Tuesday, one of Toronto's most popular parks transforms into a market with farm and artisan vendors. Pick up some fresh food and enjoy a picnic in the park afterward.

The Stop Farmers' Market

Year-round

Days: Saturdays

Times: 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (1 p.m. during summer)

Location: Artscape Wychwood Barns, 601 Christie St.

Taking place in the historic Artscape Wychwood Barns, this year-round farmers' market features local, sustainable, organic and artisanal products and attracts more than 1,500 people each week. The Stop's Market Cafe is open during market hours, so you can grab something to eat before or after shopping.

Dufferin Grove Farmers' Market

Year-round

Days: Thursdays

Time: 3 to 7 p.m.

Location: Dufferin Grove Park, 875 Dufferin Park Ave.

One of Toronto's oldest farmers' markets (established in 2002), this year-round market began as a collaboration between three local organic farmers, community members and City of Toronto Parks staff. Expect to find a selection of local produce, meats, dairy, fair-trade and wild options, as well as other farm products.

Sherway Farmers' Market

June 1 to Oct. 5

Days: Fridays

Time: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Location: Parking lot of Church on the Queensway, 1536 The Queensway

You can find fresh produce, pickles, preserves, waffles, smoothie bowls, maple syrups, cookies, candies, wines and more at this weekly market.

Weston Farmers' Market

May 12 to Oct. 27

Days: Saturdays

Time: 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Location: The market is temporarily at the GO Parking lot at 1865 Weston Rd until the Artscape Weston Hub on John Street is finished in 2019.

The Weston Farmers' Market is one of the oldest markets in the GTA, with farmers, artisans and vendors offering farm-fresh produce, pastries and treats.

Toronto Botanical Garden Organic Farmers' Market

Year-round

Days: Thursdays

Time: 2 to 7 p.m.

Location: Toronto Botanical Garden, 777 Lawrence Ave. E.

Located in one of Toronto's most beautiful gardens, the Toronto Botanical Garden Organic Farmers' Market offers a large variety of organic food and products ranging from grass-fed beef to maple syrups and vegetables. Gluten-free baked goods are also available.

June 26 to October 2

Days: Tuesdays

Time:10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Location: CF Shops at Don Mills Road, 1090 Don Mills Rd.

Location: Mel Lastman Square, 5100 Yonge St.

The North York Farmers' Market at Mel Lastman Square provides local and fresh fruit, vegetables, produce, honey, flower preserves, baked goods and more.
